While Montgomery is a small community, there are a few noteworthy things to see and do in the area. The Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary is arguably the most popular, as visitors have the chance to view and learn about many species of wolf. Other outdoor recreational opportunities are available at Sunshine Farm and the Fernland Historical Park, Museum, and Memory Garden. Golf is popular in the area at Woodforest Golf Club or Del Lago Golf Course, especially during the spring and autumn months. Other notable destinations include Nat Hart Davis Pioneer Complex and Museum, Cork This! Winery, and Old Iron Works.
The Houston, TX region offers a humid subtropical climate. Like much of the Southern U.S., the area experiences hot and humid summers. Temperatures routinely surpass over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and there are several days each season where thermostat readings reach triple digits. Central air conditioning is a necessity and found in almost every home and business, so residents are constantly looking for ways to keep utility costs affordable. An Energy Star system with a good SEER rating is essential.
Winters in Montgomery are mild, with normal mean temperatures in the mid-50s. Snowfall is rare, but there are approximately 13 days each year where low temperatures reach the freezing point. A heat pump or furnace is a requirement to stay safe during these cool periods. Local HVAC technicians can help residents to select the right system for their space.
